Moving (again?!)
I hope this is the last time, but because of some issues with my previous hosting service now I’ve migrated to WordPress.com, it’s a nice and very basic free blog hosting; I hope this is the right one!
About free weblogs
Free blog hostings are an interesting alternative to the classic personal first level domain, the most important features of free weblogs are:
- they are free
- you don’t have to spend time in customizations, the adopted cms (content management system) is already installed and configured
- you can have your own blog up and running in about five minutes
By the other side there are several disadvantages that are:
- the lack of configuration features can be a pro for a beginner blogger but could not be the same for an expert user (often you can’t add plugin or personal themes)
- many weblogs doesn’t offer any file management at all (even blogsome, the system that I’m using now), this is a very strong limitation if you don’t want only to write posts
- often you have to host ads
In conclusion, free hosting blogs are suggested to ones that don’t want to spend time customizing their blog and they don’t have particular requirements about file management. In my opinion this is the most important deficiency (but you can solve it uploading files in another server and linking them in your blog) that a new user should evaluate before subscribing.
